In the course of designing your main project, there are many elements which can help to personalise it and make it work for you.
Living Roofs: They are great insulators while helping to reduce water deluge into the local sewer, reducing urban heat island effect and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They are also great to look at, improving first floor outlook.
Garden Rooms: These can often be constructed under permitted development and can provide space for a gym, home office, art studio, chill space or even remote cinema room.
Wine Storage: An existing basement or internal room could be fitted out for wine storage. The space can be artificially temperature controlled, or better, passively tempered. The wine might also be on show behind glass and with carefully lighting
Walk in wardrobes/dressing rooms: Turning a bedroom into an ensuite bathroom can also sometimes allow space for a dressing room or walk-in wardrobe.
Balconies: a small external area can provide a transition to outside for upper floor rooms. If planning does not allow this, it may be possible to create a Juliet balcony instead.
Glass features: the use of glass can help link the outside to the inside.
Cinema rooms: basements and internal rooms might be created or converted into cinema style spaces where careful design, lighting and seating can create a great place to settle into movies or box-sets.
Pantries: they help to de-clutter a kitchen, providing easily accessible storage as a replacement for, or supplemental to wall cupboards.
Somewhere for the dog: a night time bed to keep him off the sofa.
Firebreaks: sometimes a necessity can become a feature as here a glass screen made of fire-rated glass provides a fire break and lobby.
